A new Union Flag

In March 2020, we raised our Union flag as a symbol of the church’s continued presence and love for our community during the difficulties of the pandemic, and it has flown from our church tower ever since. Recently, we noticed it had become worn and weathered, and a parishioner came forward to pay for its replacement. Whilst we are all feeling tired, Jesus is always renewing us as part of His kingdom, so we felt it was important that our flag also be renewed, as part of our continued commitment to love and care here in Ludgershall and Faberstown, as a reflection of the love God has for us all.
Thank you to Revd Errol for blessing the new flag at our service yesterday.

Saturday 12th December Cyclists Carol Service 11am

This Saturday at 11am, we are holding our Cyclists Carol Service in our churchyard. It will be a very short 15min service, outdoors and socially distanced, with bikes in hand, led by Rev’d Tim, our very own cycling vicar. Our friends at Andover Wheelers are riding in to join us, and all are welcome to come on your bikes too, even if it’s just from round the corner! We look forward to worshipping then! 🚴🏼‍♂️🚴🏼🚴‍♀️

Stained Glass Window Update

Here is the latest process our glass is being put through – masking. Revd Sophie Hacker, the artist making the window says, “I know it looks messy but this is such fun! Using the bitumen to make the masks for when [the glass] goes in the hydrofluoric acid. It’ll give the most wonderful textures and subtle colours.”
Isn’t it fascinating? Thanks, Sophie, for letting us see your process of making.

Thank you so very much to those who have already used our online payment system to donate towards the window project! If you would like to donate it is straightforward at this link to our website: https://stjamesludgershall.com/donations/

An Update re Finances

Following our Annual Church Meeting last month we can report that St James Church will be paying the Parish Share in full this year, although we’ll have to use £3,500 (roughly one third) of our reserves in order to do so.

Thank you to everyone who supports our church, not only financially, but in time, work, serving and praying. Some folk have understandably been financially effected by the ongoing pandemic, and have not been able to give – if that’s you, please don’t worry. If you are among the people who have generously decided to increase your giving to help make up some of the shortfall, thank you.

The decision to pay Parish Share is important because Parish Share is what the Diocese use to pay our clergy their wages. This link provides more information from the Diocese about how the money is used: https://www.salisbury.anglican.org/resources-library/whos-who/contacts/comms-team/working-together/budget-2021-at-a-glance-nov-2020
