On Holy Saturday (30th), at 8pm, we will gather around the Easter fire for an Easter Vigil. We will retell the Christian story to one another through readings and prayer as we await the rising of Jesus, the coming of the Light of the World.
This is an outdoor service in our churchyard, so please come dressed warmly and waterproofed for a time outside. You may also like to bring a folding chair. Thank you.
This Good Friday, join us at 2pm as we mark the final hour of Jesus’ life. A contemplative service, which will include a dramatised reading, come with us to the foot of the cross.
On Maundy Thursday (28th) at 6pm we will celebrate the Last Supper together, the poignant Holy Communion in the upper room before the dramatic events of Good Friday unfold. We will also strip the sanctuary to represent the grief and emptiness of the coming few days. All are welcome.
This Holy Week, our wooden cross will remain outside the church, and you are invited to add daffodils to it to remember a loved one. The cross will be beautified, even in our loss. We continue to pray for all those who grieve and all those who have gone to heaven ahead of us.
We will be marking the events of Easter with a series of different services both here at St James and at our sister church Holy Trinity Church Tidworth. Please refer to our schedule on the picture below. All are welcome at any or all of them, as we celebrate the climax of the Christian year.
